Along the Hamstead Road on our right we come to Spouthouse Lane which used to be the Old Walsall Road. On the left we can see Somerfields garage. Here used to be the original Hamstead School before the present one was built further up the Hamstead Road. Behind the garage used to be the old miners bath-house, later to become the Throstles Club, and later the Great Barr Club which saw top artists like, Tommy Steele, Tony Christie, Barry Manilow, appear.
